As a payroll apprentice you will be an important part of our team. Over time we will teach you all the knowledge, skills and behaviours that are essential to help you develop into a fabulous payroll technician and onwards and upwards to hopefully reach Chartered Payroll Professional status!

As a Payroll Technician you’ll ensure thousands of employees are paid their wages, their pensions are calculated, taxes are collected for the government and appropriate advice is provided to business owners.  It’s a very responsible role and an incredibly interesting and rewarding career path.

What is a payroll apprentice?

Payrollers are experts at ensuring employees are paid correctly according to legislation and their contracts of employment. Watch this short video to find out more:

How will I learn at Cox & Co?

This is an entry level position and is well suited to a school/college leaver or anyone who wishes to start their career and continue studying through the Level 3 and 5 Payroll Apprenticeship pathway.  

You’ll be mentored from the outset, attend regular apprenticeship training with an external Apprenticeship Training Provider (online), attend workshops and courses and of course daily on the job training to solidify your knowledge and gain real-life experience.

Some aspects of your role at the start will be:

  • Payroll scheduling and task management
  • ePayslip management and customer support
  • IT helpdesk and IT infrastructure support
  • Basic payroll processing
  • ePayroll distribution
  • Spreadsheet development and implementation
  • Telephone customer helpdesk
  • Basic pension processing

Upon successful completion of your first year, you will be eligible to join the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals as an Associate Member (ACIPP) and with the right potential continue with your studies to become a Chartered Payroll Professional.

This is a full-time permanent position:  Hours 37.5 hours per week     8:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday.
